Should Holder bat at six?
The number six position is the core of the batting order. It is the pivot and fulcrum. Having the most complete West Indies player bat in that position is an experiment worth taking.
Holder has worked hard to become the world's number one all rounder. He has demonstrated the consistency and temperament necessary to be trusted at number six. With an average of 33 coupled 106 wickets, Jason Holder has excelled . Due to his good work, it is the time for Jason to promote himself up the order.
With the absence of Hetmeyer and Darren Bravo, it is imperative that the right balance is sought. Having the captain batting higher will allow the Windies to play an extra bowler or batsman. In this case, Cornwall would be the ideal addition. He would help to strengthen the batting order. There are some that would argue that if Holder bats higher then the lower order would be weakened. However, with Dorwich, Cornwall and Roach, the lower middle order will still be formidable.
It is time for West Indies to test this hypotheses and see if the findings will be favourable.
